01 Jan, 2019

There are dozens of marriage halls where there is no shortage of gas.

In this area, it is marriages season and one has to book the marriage hall at least a month in advance.

Similarly, gas pumps are facing no problem of gas shortage as gas company is meeting their demand. Main city residents are also being supplied gas. It is only domestic consumers in suburban localities of the city who are facing gas shortage.

One Munir Ahmed, a resident of Manzoorabad Mohalla, told PPI that since start of winter, Jumma, Mandoorabad, Irshad Colony localities are facing irregular and low pressure gas supply for the last two weeks.

On complaints of domestic consumers, linemen visit the localities and tell complainants that influential consumers had installed compressors that had affected the gas supply to suburban localities badly.

Ahmed further said that their office had sent a summary of such problems and complaints to the higher authorities and was waiting for orders for taking action against the culprits using compressors.

This will take a week or more to restore supply to the affected localities.

Due to stoppage of gas supply, the residents go to Tanures where they have to pay Rs. 3 for bread.

LPG cylinder with 11 kg gas is being sold at the rate of Rs. 1700.

Domestic consumers have urged the authorities to take notice of the gas shortage and requested them to restore it to domestic consumers at least at meal timings.
