PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has taken notice of less payment to sugar growers in violation of rates fixed by the provincial government.
Provincial government spokesman Ajmal Wazir said that provincial government had already fixed price of sugarcane at Rs.180 per 40 Kilogram and will implement its decision in letter and spirit.
He said that sugar mills owners were bound to buy sugarcane from growers on the fixed prices. Ajmal Wazir said that there had been reports that sugar mills owners were not paying to growers according to fixed rate, which is sheer violation and warned that strict action would be taken against mills owners involved in such practices.
He assured sugarcane growers that government would protect their interests at every cost, adding sugar mills owners would be not allowed to deprive sugar growers from the rights and privileges.
