The Karachi Port handled 161,770 tonnes of cargo comprising 108,562 tonnes of import cargo and 53,208 tonnes of export cargo including 5,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 108,562 tonnes comprised of 31,410 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,062 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,970 tonnes of rapeseed; 3,910 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 12,210 tonnes of DAP and 52,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 53,208 tonnes comprised of 36,196 tonnes of containerised cargo; 450 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,162 tonnes of wheat and 10,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,458 containers comprising of 1,923 containers import and 3,535 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 923 of 20's and 497 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 03 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,063 of 20's and 400 of 40's loaded containers while 762 of 20's and 455 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Kota Kamil, CMA CGM Mumbai, Sun Globe, Truong Minh Sea and BBC Amethyst carrying containers, wheat, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. APL Minnesota, OOCL California, Dong Tihg Hu, Chemroad Journey, Lucent, Grace and Norderneny carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 208,363 tonnes comprising 173,547 tonnes of import cargo and 34,816 tonnes of export cargo including 2,400 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 173,547 tonnes includes 47,800 tonnes of LNG; 18,700 tonnes of palm oil; 65,710 tonnes of coal; 8,600 tonnes of soyabean, 2,337 tonnes of chemical and 30,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,816 tonnes includes 19,616 tonnes of condensate and 15,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,400 containers comprising of 1,600 containers import and 800 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely MT Mega-1 carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CV Qingdao Tower, CV GSL Tianjin, MV HS Tosca and MV Maud carrying containers, condensate and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, MV HS Tosca, MV Doro, MV Maud, MV RB Leah, MT LNG Simaisma, MT Mega-1 and MT Maritime Riyal were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, condensate, coal, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Qingdao Tower, MV Orion-III, MV Cecilia-B, MV Sakizaya Miracle, MV Kristinita, MV North Colombia, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Athina, MT Pike and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers, soyabean, rapeseeds, coal, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Qingdao Tower, CV APL Minnesota, CV Safmarine Nyassa, MV YM Miranda and MT Maran Gas Efessos carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV APL Minnesota, CV Safmarine Nyassa and MT LNG Simaisma carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV Libra and CV Cape Mayor carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely CV MS Tiger carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
