Presidential slot: PML-N to strive for consensus candidate of opposition

Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) in a consultative meeting held with its president Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in the chair, here Tuesday, discussed strategy for the upcoming presidential election and decided to make efforts for bringing consensus candidate of the opposition for this prestigious slot.
Sources claimed that the PML-N also formed a committee, to establish contacts with the opposition parties for making a way forward for the presidential election with consensus. The PML-N also criticized the PTI-led government for putting the names of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL), the sources said, adding: "The PML-N also slated the arrests of the party workers outside Adiala Jail and termed it revengeful act."
It was decided in the meeting to hold a meeting of joint opposition soon after Eid in Islamabad or Murree, to discuss the upcoming presidential election. The meeting also decided to fully participate in the bye-elections.
After the meeting, the former provincial minister Rana Sanaullah MNA told that the meeting discussed the presidential election. He said the joint opposition can win the slot of President of Pakistan through a consensus candidate. He said the PML-N would strive for bringing a consensus candidate for the office of president.
Khawaja Saad Rafique criticized the PTI-led government for putting the names of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL) and termed it revengeful act. He said that Imran Khan should understand the truth and ground realities before taking any decision.
