Pakistan FMCG Importers Association (PFIA) while congratulating Imran Khan on assuming the office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan has expressed the hope that the country will come out of the financial hardships under his leadership. The Association also congratulated the new regime for picking up talented cabinet members who are capable to bring in new institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the institutions and the national economy.
The Association especially felicitated Asad Umer on assuming the office of the Minister of Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs. PFIA Chairman Anjum Nisar, Vice Chairman Muhammad Ejaz Tanveer and others in a statement issued here on Tuesday besides pointing out different issues drew the attention of the new regime towards issuance of a FE Circular No No 07 by the caretaker regime regarding imports on open account. They demanded that the restrictions under said circular should not apply on goods in transit where shipping documents (e.g. B/L, AWB, TR, RR Courier Receipt etc.) have been issued on or before the date of issuance of the circular. However, Goods Declaration against such consignments must be filed by the importers with Pakistan Customs latest by August 10, 2018.
They requested the PTI government to extend this date till August 31, 2018 and allow payments through open account till September 30, 2018 in the large interest of the trade and industry. They also assured their full support to the new government in its endeavours of introduction of tax reforms aimed at broadening of the tax net.
