The government has urged the people to actively participate in 'Plant for Pakistan Campaign' to be launched on September 2, 2018. While addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Prime Minister's Advisor on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam urged the general public to ensure their vigorous participation in the campaign as a national obligation.
He said that the tree plantation drive will be launched across the country on September 2 aimed at coping with the environmental hazards and climate change challenges. He said that 1.5 million trees will be planted in one day.
He said that the government is committed to planting 10 billion trees during the tenure of five years and to implement the promise, the government has also set up a taskforce which will submit its final recommendations within the next three months.
Aslam said that the issues like water scarcity and climate change are mega challenges of the country, which need to be tackled through taking necessary steps. He said that planting trees is a country's biggest need through which the environmental pollution can be overcome.
