Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday ordered to send the names of more than 55 missing persons to Missing Persons Commission after the court took up the issue of missing persons at its Karachi Registry. The three-member bench of apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar summoned the relatives of missing persons inside the court, who were protesting outside Karachi Registry since morning.
The relatives of missing persons told the court that they are worried about their near and dear ones, who went missing, and are not receiving any cooperation from the law enforcing agencies in their recovery. They said that those persons went missing many years ago and could not be recovered so far. Some people even wept while narrating ordeals since the missing of their close relatives.
Chief Justice said he also felt hurt when heard about the news of people, who went missing. He said that apex court had constituted a Missing Persons Commission to trace the whereabouts of missing persons. "I had also a meeting with the people in the Missing Persons Commission, who are high government functionaries to monitor the working of this commission for recovery of missing persons," he said. CJP hoped that this commission would be able to make progress on the missing persons issue soon. CJP ordered to forward the names of over 55 missing persons to the commission and assured their relatives that they would be recovered soon.
