Police to hold fire practice session ahead of Muharram

The Punjab police have decided to conduct a fire practice session for police volunteers after the completion of their registration process before the start of Muharram-ul-Haram. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Shahzad Akbar, the fire practice session will be held at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh before first of Muharram.
He requested religious scholars to spread the message of love, brotherhood and unity among the people. He warned that an indiscriminate disciplinary action would be taken if someone found violating the devised standard operation procedures (SOPs).
He said they are in coordination with the city district administration to ensure foolproof security during the holy month. All relevant SPs have been directed to visit trouble spots and chalk out a line of action. The senior police officer said the security of all sensitive 'Majalis' and mourning processions would be monitored through CCTV cameras.
