Electricity shortfall spikes up to 5560 megawatts

Amid scorching heat and crippling humidity, the shortfall of electricity spiked up to 5560MW and power outages disrupted routine life activities of the people in the provincial capital on Sunday. According to reports the demand of electricity rose to 23670MW against the thermal and hydel production of 8110MW.
The feeders with losses over 10pc were subjected to load shedding by the electricity distributing companies. Met office said that Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. A westerly wave is present over upper parts of the country. Light to moderate monsoon currents are penetrating upper parts of the country.
Weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country on Sunday. However, rain-thundershower occurred at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Zhob, Kalat divisions and Kashmir. Weather Forecast for Monday:

However, rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, DI khan, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Zhob divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
