Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa Tuesday discussed the evolving geo-strategic environment and progress on Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad with the Corps Commanders. The 213th Corps Comm-anders Conference was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, in which the forum discussed Defence Day preparations. The Army Chief directed that field formations should reach out to the families of martyrs in their areas as mark of respect.
The Defence Day is observed on September 6 to commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers who lost their lives in the 1965 War. According to sources in the military, ahead of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Pakistan on Wednesday (today), the CoAS met Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss the uneasy relationship between the two countries as well as suspension of Coalition Support Fund (CSF) and the meeting was then followed by the Corps Commanders Conference which was held in order to disseminate the policy-to-be-adopted while maintaining civil-military relations on the same page. The sources further said that the visit would be the first test for the present ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
