Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Ansar Majeed Khan has directed the concerned authorities of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) to complete the work of upgradation of emergencies of all 17 hospitals running under institution, ensuring round the clock supply of medicines to the secured workers and their dependents.
He stated this during a briefing given by Director Purchase PESSI Dr Muhammad Ilyas on Tuesday. The minister was informed that the work of purchase of medicines and electro medical equipment for all the emergencies of 17 hospitals of PESSI is near its completion.
He informed that PESSI adopts all necessary SOPs in line with other provincial departments for purchase of medicines and other equipment for the institution.
Dr Ilyas further apprised the minister that medicines for treatment of hepatitis (C) will be provided to all the hospitals and medical centers of PESSI throughout the province within this week.
He said all necessary procedure has been completed for purchase of medicines and supply of medicines to social security hospitals and dispensaries will start soon after mandatory drug testing process. Labor Minister Ansar Majeed Khan directed the PESSI authorities to ensure provision of best possible treatment to labour community as a prosperous Pakistan is only possible if our laborers and industrial workers are healthy.
The minister also took notice of the incident of beating of a six years old student Bushra Javed of Workers Welfare Primary School Nishter Colony Lahore by a teacher and directed Secretary Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB), Ahmad Naik to immediately probe into the matter and submit a detailed report to him within next 24 hours. Ansar Majeed Khan expressed great concern over the non-professional attitude of teaching staff who failed to adopt the law which prohibits from any physical punishment to students in educational institutions.
