Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Advisory Committee on Water Resources has decided to form a technical committee to draft ToRs on short, medium and long term basis to sort out issues such as how to conserve water resources, water recycling, construction of small dams/reservoir addressing all micro climate and climate change issues and alternate resources of water.
The eight-member Technical Committee comprised of Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, senior vice president FPCCI as chairman, Waheed Ahmed and Karim Aziz Malik, vice presidents FPCCI, Rehmat Ullah Jawaid, chairman standing committee on SMEs, Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, Professor, University of Karachi, Dr. Nuzhat Khan, senior scientist, Idris Rajput, former secretary Irrigation Department Sindh and Mir Mazhar Talpur, president Megtech LTD as members.
The decision has been made in first meeting of FPCCI Advisory Committee on Water Resources that was earlier established in compliance with the decision taken in the conference arranged by the R&D department of the FPCCI. It thrashed out various aspects of water scarcity, water resources and other relevant issues.
The advisory committee meeting was chaired by former president of FPCCI, S.M. Muneer, who emphasized the need for urgent measures for conservation of water and supported the call of the Prime Minister to raise funds for construction of dams.
The committee will also study the Report of AGN Abbasi on Water and analytically examine the current National Water Policy 2018 and make necessary recommendations for inclusion in the policy.
