Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan's leader Dr Farooq Sattar has resigned from Rabita Committee of the party, which is its top decision-making body. Dr Farooq Sattar tendered his resignation from Coordination Committee by showing his inability to serve in it for personal reasons, his spokesman stated on Thursday.
Dr Sattar requested MQM-Pakistan to accept his resignation, which came after he reportedly is in consultation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join the government party. Dr Sattar lost the election on NA-247 as MQM Pakistan's nominee against PTI's Dr Arif Alvi. This constituency fell vacant after Dr Alvi's election as President of Pakistan early this month.
Dr Farooq Sattar was not at good terms with MQM-Pakistan for quite some time after he developed differences with Bahadurabad faction of the party led by Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui by establishing his own faction MQM-PIB. Though, the two factions integrated before the general elections, Dr Farooq Sattar kept a distance from the party's affairs, which gave rumours to Dr Sattar's joining PTI.
