Perry John Calderwood, the outgoing Canadian High Commissioner in Islamabad called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier on Monday. The foreign minister appreciated the contributions of the outgoing Canadian high commissioner in the improvement of Pakistan-Canada relations and wished him good luck for his future assignment, said a press release issued here.
Calderwood congratulated the foreign minister on assuming office and briefed him about the ongoing Canadian assistance programmes in Pakistan.
He also said that the Canadian government is very keen to expand bilateral trade and investment relations with Pakistan and has, in this regard, appointed a full time Trade Commissioner in Islamabad, who will work closely with the business community for achieving desired goals. Given the potential of the bilateral relationship, it was agreed to have enhanced engagement at the political and senior officials' level.-PR
