Public schools: level of education will be better than private schools: minister

Provincial Minister for Schools Education Dr Murad Raas claimed that level of education in the public schools will be better than private schools.
While talking to Business Recorder minister said that fee structure of private schools is very high. He also said that government will consult private sector for the rationalization of fee structure. He said regulatory authority would be established to maintain effective check and balance on private schools in the province. The minister said the private sector was playing an important role in the promotion of education and quality education was the basic right of every child. He also disclosed that government is planning to take action against the academy mafia without any discrimination.
He also said buildings and infrastructure are not going to provide a better future for the children. Teachers' training is the need of the hour. Teachers serving in public sector have better salaries than private school teachers but the result of students is totally opposite. He said after the fifth standard, 72 percent of children drop out of the schools. People don't have the opportunities and educational institutes near their residences. We are planning to start a second shift in the same schools so that students can get their education till matriculation there. We will be setting criteria for the teachers as well.
Answering a query related to Danish School he said, "We are not closing Danish Schools but we have started preparing to launch an inquiry which will be conducted by a third party. They will provide the full assessment report about this project."
Provincial Minister Murad Raas said that government will fill vacant seats as well as teachers will be given in service promotion. He also said that 73000 new class rooms needed in Punjab. He said that in the city of Lahore 72 buildings of schools are in dangerous condition. In 154 schools of district of Kasur children don't have drinking water. He said in Bahawalnagar district 71 schools don't have any building.
Raas said reforms would be introduced holistically in the school education department to secure the future of the youth by providing them with quality education. He said that officers posted in Lahore for the last ten years will be transferred.
He also said that a state-of-the-art complaint cell will be set up in the department to timely solve the complaints of teachers, students and other stakeholders. Similarly, it has also been planned to register daily attendance of teachers, students and other employees of school's education department.
