Pakistan should utilize Swedish technology for value addition of its local products, said Ahmed Hussain Dayo Pakistani ambassador to Sweden. Talking to a 10-member FCCI (Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry) delegation, he said that Swedish investors are keen to invest in Pakistan and Pakistani embassy was fully supporting them by providing them required information.
However, he said that he wanted to encourage technology transfer based joint ventures with Swedish investors so that more profit could be earned by adding value in our agriculture produce in addition to the raw and semi furnished exports. He also acknowledged the role of textile sector in overall economy of Pakistan and said that Swedish technology could also reorganize this export sector on modern scientific lines.
Heading the FCCI delegation, Senior Vice President Sheikh Farooq Yusuf told that Faisalabad alone is contributing 60% share in total textile exports of Pakistan. However, there was still room to bring qualitative improvements in our exportable surplus. He requested Pakistani embassy in Sweden to provide them basic market related information and emerging trends in clothing sector so that garments and fashion garments could be produced exclusively for export to Sweden. "This would also help Pakistan to earn maximum foreign exchange from the country", he hoped.
Sheikh Farooq Yusuf also presented various books published by FCCI and told that Pakistan is a peaceful country and Pakistani embassies abroad should play a positive and proactive role in projecting soft image of Pakistan. Farooq Yusuf also presented an honorary shield of FCCI to Ahmed Hussain Dayo. During this meeting first Secretary Muhammad Irfan, Commercial Consular Saima Sabah and Commercial Assistant Shahana Khalil were also present.
Later the FCCI delegation also visited the Swedish School of Textile in Boras and attended a textile seminar. Farooq Yusuf appreciated the quality of Swedish textile technology and said that it could help Pakistan to upgrade its entire chain of textile sector. He also presented FCCI shields to Nadeem Tahir chairman Nordic-Pakistan Business Forum, Sweden and Pierre Rosengren Chief Executive Officer of the Market Place, Boras.
