KP IGP reviews security measures for Ashura

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsud on Thursday visited Imambargah situated in Peshawar Saddar to review security arrangements for peaceful observance of Muharram. Chief Capital City Police Peshawar Qazi Jami-Ur-Rehman and SSP Operations Peshawar briefed the IGP about the security measures and live monitoring of the processions through CCTV installed in various parts of the city.
The IGP expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the police and issued more necessary instructions to the police high ups present on this occasion. The IGP also met with elders of Ahle Tashie and exchanged views with them about the security arrangements adopted by the police for Ashura. They expressed full satisfaction over security measures and assured their full cooperation for peaceful observance of Muharram. The IGP also visited Army Control Room established there where he was briefed with the help of maps and charts about the Muharram security steps.
Talking with the media men on the occasion, the IGP pointed out that best coordination exist amongst Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, Pak Army, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary, civil administration and Intelligence Agencies and joint search and strike operations are being carried out on intelligence based information of which better results are coming.
The IGP informed that foolproof security arrangements had been finalized and all necessary security equipment have been provided to the districts where Muharram processions to be taken out. The IGP further revealed that Muharram security steps are being adopted with consultation and active support of sects and general public and hoped that Muharram would be observed with due reverence in a peaceful and congenial atmosphere.
