Saudi Arabia evinces interest in airing Pakistani TV dramas

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry met his Saudi counterpart, Dr Awad al Awwad in Jeddah and discussed matters of bilateral interest. During the meeting, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Saudi authorities for giving them a warm hospitality.
The Saudi Minister showed interest in screening Pakistani TV dramas on Saudi channels, according to the report. The Minister said the opening of doors of the Khana Kaaba for Prime Minister Imran Khan and his delegation was an exceptional honour for Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry said both the countries enjoyed very strong and fraternal relations which are poised to grow with time. He said the visit of Saudi Minister for Information to Pakistan was very important and had set direction for coordination between the two ministries. Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi Minister for Information Dr Awwad said there is a huge potential for media cooperation between the two countries and both the countries needed to take advantage of that opportunity.
Both the leaders also agreed on a joint media strategy to combat extremism. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday reaffirmed their intention to stand by each other at all times, expressed their desire to further enhance and diversify bilateral cooperation and to continue close coordination on issues of mutual interest. Both the countries also resolved to strengthen their historical and brotherly ties, rooted in bonds of common religion, shared culture and values and quest for regional and global peace and security. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the convergence of views on a host of regional and global issues, as well as the issues faced by Muslim Ummah.
