The Karachi Port handled 104,195 tonnes of cargo comprising 81,152 tonnes of import cargo and 23,043 tonnes of export cargo including 3,655 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 81,152 tonnes comprised of 31,777 tonnes of containerised cargo; 905 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,354 tonnes of DAP; 2,150 tonnes of canola and 30,966 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 23,043 tonnes comprised of 14,043 tonnes of containerised cargo and 9,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,655 containers comprising of 2,464 containers import and 1,191 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 472 of 20's and 849 of 40's loaded while 36 of 20's and 129 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 326 of 20's and 402 of 40's loaded containers while 11 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely MT Karachi, Al Mahboobah, Rowan-3 and Nordic Tianin carrying oil tanker, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Diyala, Cape Male, CMA CGM Tosca, Vega Taurus and Ocean Marvel carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 93,140 tonnes comprising 60,366 tonnes of import cargo and 32,774 tonnes of export cargo including 2,000 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 60,366 tonnes includes 22,572 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,517 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 5,677 tonnes of coal; 3,500 tonnes of chemical and 17,100 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,774 tonnes includes 11,874 tonnes of cement and 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,000 containers comprising of 900 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Esthi, MV YM Miranda and MT Stena Premium carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV MSC Esthi, MV Sophia-N, MV Dias, MV Lowland Amstel, MV YM Miranda and MT Stena Premium were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, cement, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Hercules Ocean, MV Iris Virginia, MT Al Sofiya, MT Tomson Gas, MT Maria-III, MT White Purl, MT Gas Husky, MT Ardmore, MT Euro Brave and MT Argent Cosmas carrying containers, soyabean, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Maersk Detroit, MV Iris Virginia, MT Al Sofiya and MT Argent Cosmos carrying containers, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday
There is one ship namely CV Conti Darwin carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two ships namely CV GH Chinook and CV Tempanos carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
