This is apropos a Business Recorder editorial "It's time to move on" carried by the newspaper the other day. The newspaper appears to be quite sympathetic insofar as the handling of economic issues by the PTI government is concerned. It has argued, for example, that "[T]here is a growing sense that he has not been wisely briefed by his counsel about the possible long-term solutions to tackle the shrinking and heavily indebted economy of the country... ."
The question therefore is: Should he fire all those who had not been properly counselling him? No, the issue is not so simple. Imran Khan and his entire team were appreciative of the country's state of economy much before the July 25 vote. The speeches made by Imran Khan during the election campaign strongly reflected his deep insights into country's economy. Blaming his counsel is no excuse.
