Nationwide measles eradication drive is set to kicked off from today (Monday) and continue till October 27. Dr Yasmin Rashid, Minister for Health Punjab, has appealed parents, teachers, civil society and the Ulema to come forward and strengthen hands of the government in this national cause and make future of our children safer.
In a message she said that 15 thousand teams of health department have been deputed in all areas of Punjab and about 11 million children would be injected anti-measles vaccine.
"Injection would be administered to children who were 06 months to 7 years old" she said. All districts have been provided with injections, syringes and other equipments. Moreover she said that social mobilizes have also been trained and they were fully mobilized in their respective area. "Reach every child in door-to-door drive and health officers should check field teams on spot during the anti-measles campaign" directed the minister.
She expressed her satisfaction over preparedness of health department and said only a preventive measure could save a child from this epidemic. Yasmin Rashid said that any information regarding measles eradication drive can be gotten from Health line 0800-99-000.
