Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 115,181 tonnes of cargo comprising 121,618 tonnes of import cargo and 33,563 tonnes of export cargo including 5,912 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 121,618 tonnes comprised of 35,792 tonnes of containerised cargo; 38,360 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,100 tonnes of DAP; 6,539 tonnes of canola; 4,080 tonnes of rapeseed and 31,747 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 33,563 tonnes comprised of 24,814 tonnes of containerised cargo; 212 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,937 tonnes of clinker and 5,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,912 containers comprising of 2,523 containers import and 3,389 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 879 of 20's and 668 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 154 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 629 of 20's and 518 of 40's loaded containers while 194 of 20's and 765 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely CMA CGM Mozart, Xin Xia Men and RBD Anema E Core carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. MS Tiger, Tirua, Bomar Hermes, Athens Bridge, Glorious, MT Lahore, Intrepid Republic, Grace and Han Hui carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 156,702 tonnes includes 22,506 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,590 tonnes of palm oil; 43,498 tonnes of coal; 54,800 tonnes of LNG; 3,857 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 21,451 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,130 tonnes includes 43,130 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,399 containers comprising of 1,129 containers import and 2,270 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely CV SM New York and Mt Iris Victoria carrying containers and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four ships namely CV MSC Bilbao, MV Nord Colombia, MT Al-Ruwais and MT Threresa Success carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Bilbao, CV SM New York, MV Hercules Ocean, MV Nord Colombia, MT Lokoja, MT Al-Ruwais, MT Iris Victoria and MT Threresa Success were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely MV Aeolian Heritage, MV Epic Tetus, MV Sky Night, MT Maria-III, MT White Purl and MT Ardmore carrying soyabean, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartford, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Sky Night, MT White Purl and MT Maritime carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Hartford and CV CSAV Tyndall carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely CV MOL Grandeur carrying containers are due to arrive on Wednesday.
