Newly-appointed Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi has announced to establish schools for the children of martyred cops in all regions of the province besides issuance of insurance health cards to them.
Saleemi made this announcement during his maiden address to all police officers who gathered at the central police office (CPO) on Wednesday. He further revealed that efforts are underway for construction of residential colonies for police force in vicinity of police lines and other places in all districts of the province while the project of installing RO plants for provision of clean water and facility of washrooms in all police lines is being completed as soon as possible.
"An internal accountability unit will be made effective and strict action will be taken against the officers and officials found guilty of corruption, misuse of power, negligence in their professional duties and in any other misconduct," the police chief warned. All officers should also ensure weekly holidays of their subordinates, he further instructed.
A police team headed by the AIG Establishment will visit Multan fortnightly in order to address issues of officials of far-flung areas of South Punjab through which they would not have to visit Lahore and their problems may be solved at their doorsteps, added the IG. According to him, a one-day refresher training course will be arranged for all inspectors deputed in police stations. He added that foreign training courses will also be ensured on quota basis in order to enhance the efficiency of all police tiers.
The IG also sought three suggestions from the participating cops regarding their preferred place of postings so that they can perform their duties with full concentration. "The welfare branch of the Punjab police will be made more effective in district headquarters of the province for quick relief and welfare of officials. Being a chief of police force, it is my top priority to focus on the welfare of police personnel for which all available resources will be utilized," he vowed.
He further declared that the promotion orders of those officers who do not complete ACRs of their subordinates will not be issued. "No delaying tactics in lodging of FIRs will be tolerated at any cost," he warned. He added that a strict departmental action will be taken against those officials who tortured citizens and misbehave with them.
Saleemi said pension papers of every official should be completed before three months of his retirement so that they should not wait for the acquisition of their arrears and pension. He further said that welfare and development funds will be utilized in order to provide missing facilities and emphasized upon restart of PT and parade practices in police stations.
