As the new year kicks off, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has listed down his New Year’s resolution which includes holding public discussions regarding technology.

In his post published yesterday, Zuckerberg detailed about some of his New Year resolutions, while mentioning his 2018 resolutions and how he fulfilled them. But, for this year, Zuckerberg aims to be more ambitious and ponder upon bigger questions in technology surrounding us.

“Last year, I focused almost all my time on addressing important issues around elections, speech, privacy, and well-being. Facebook is a different company now than it was a couple of years ago because of a much greater focus on these questions. These issues are complex and we will continue focusing on them for years to come,” wrote Zuckerberg.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg ‘proud’ of Facebook despite a scandalous year

Zuckerberg mentioned several big questions about the world and technology’s place in it. He said in this year, he aims to ‘host series of public discussions about the future of technology in society – the opportunities, the challenges, the hopes, and the anxieties’.

He further mentioned that for this he will talk to leaders, experts, and people in community from various fields, stating that this will be ‘intellectually interesting’. He said he will keep updating about it publicly either through his Facebook or Instagram pages or other media.

“I’m an engineer, and I used to just build out my ideas and hope they’d mostly speak for themselves. But given the importance of what we do, that doesn’t cut it anymore. So I’m going to put myself out there more than I’ve been comfortable with and engage more in some of these debates about the future, the tradeoffs we face, and where we want to go,” he promised.

He concluded his post by saying that he is looking forward to another year of ‘learning and personal improvement’ and also discussing some ‘important’ questions with everyone.
