President of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Danish Khan urged the government to define its national agenda on economy. He said that according to IMF, inflation in Pakistan could hit the highest level of 14 pc till June, next year. He expressed concern that due to these circumstances general public and business community would face worst situation.
He urged the government to adopt measures for recovery of national economy as there is need for proper planned agenda apart from any political affiliations.
He recalled Prime Minister Imran Khan's first speech after success in general election in which he vowed to take measures for lower production cost of industry and expressed hope he would act according to his words.
KITE chairman and CEO Zubair Chhaya said that higher cost of production emerged as the biggest challenge for industrial section during last decade and
cause great losses to their exports.
He noted that this basic problem deepened crisis of trade deficit and insufficiency of foreign reserves that were expanded to the extent that rupee had been devalued and again Pakistan is compelled to get bailouts. Chhaya said that the only way towards economic independence is to promote industry at home. He urged the federal government to take immediate measures to enhance exports.
