President, SITE Association of Industry (SAI), Saleem Parekh has urged the government to revert the decision of gas load shedding so that industrial production continues without any hurdle which is in the larger interest of the country.
Expressing serious concerns over gas load shedding in SITE industrial area for 48 hours (Sunday 8-00 am to Tuesday 8-00 am) he termed it 'disastrous for the exporting industries. He said that gas load shedding of 2 days coupled with low gas pressure on remaining days, is impacting the production of exporting industries to a great extent and resultantly, the industries are not able to ship export orders on time and will bear extra cost by making air shipments.
Parekh said that it is beyond understanding that on the one hand, government wants industries to boost exports to cope with trade deficit, while on the other hand, failing to provide basic utility to the export sector. Even the five zero-rated export-oriented sectors are being affected by this closure.
