Directorate General of Trade Organization (DGTO) has directed the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to immediately notify removal of Syeda Saeeda Bano from the position of FPCCI's vice president. In an order issued here on Tuesday, the DGTO stated that Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) Karachi East affairs had been mismanaged for the last three years due to intense rivalries among groups. The regulatory compliance was totally ignored which turned the chamber into a dormant and inactive trade body.
Three administrators appointed in a short period of two years were also dragged in controversies by the two managements who claim to operate chambers activities. Moreover, the status of the WCCI, Karachi East, at the time of FPCCI elections 2018, was not determined and therefore, acceptance of the nomination of the chamber was a violation by the FPCCI as it supported one particular group, the order said.
It further said this confirmed the fact that election of the nominee of WCCI, Karachi East, on the women seat of vice president FPCCI 2018, was illegal and therefore declared null and void under section 14(3)(f)(iii) of the Trade Organization Act, 2013.
Therefore, FPCCI has been directed to immediately notify removal of the incumbent vice president FPCCI Syeda Saeeda Bano from the post and notify Nazli Abid Nisar as returned candidate for remaining tenure of the office. The Directorate also ordered FPCCI to submit compliance report in this regard within 7 days of the issuance of this order and disposed of the case.
