Chinese Company M/s Changyi Kangjie Sanitation Engineering has claimed that Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has to pay Rs 12 million on account of collection and lifting of garbage from various parts of metropolis.
However, the SSWMB disputed the claim of Chinese Company and said that it is actually the amount of security deposit that the company wanted to take back during the proceedings of Sindh water Commission (SWC) on Thursday. On the directives of the commission, a committee will look into the dispute of payments between SSWMB and Chinese Company M/s Changyi Kangjie Sanitation Engineering.
During the hearing of the proceedings of the commission - headed by former judge of Supreme Court Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Fan Man Guo Chairman of Chinese Company, which is responsible for collection and lifting of solid waste from various districts of Karachi appeared after he was summoned thrice by the commission.
It was decided during the proceedings that a committee would examine the issues between the parties on payment and was suggested that proposals of the committee would be submitted in the next hearing of the issue. About the conversion of industrial plots into commercial ones, Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA) told the commission that it neither allowed conversion nor approved building plans for such plots. The commission decided to take up the issue whether plan can be approved by any authority other than SBCA in next hearing.
Additional Advocate General told the commission that he has to seek instructions from the government in regard to the stance taken by the Industrialists before this Commission viz-a-viz conversion of industrial plots into commercial ones.
