Prices of essential kitchen items witness decline

Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a reduction during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that during the week under review, prices of most of the vegetables, chicken and fruits witnessed a decline while prices of spices, cooked food and other items remained stable.
Onion price went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 160 per 5kg in the wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg. Best quality potatoes price remained stable at Rs 180 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg, while sweet potatoes price went down from 120 per 5kg to Rs 90 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 30 per kg. Tomatoes price came down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 220 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg against Rs 90-100 per kg.
Various qualities of garlic were available in the range of Rs 500-650 per 5kg against Rs 800-600 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 120-140 per kg against Rs 130-160 per kg. Ginger price was found stable at Rs 1,000 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 240 per kg. Lemon price came down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 175 per kg.
Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 780 per 20kg bag, egg price went up from Rs 115 per dozen to Rs 120 per dozen, live chicken price came down from Rs 5,000 per 40kg to Rs 4,800 per 40kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 155-160 per kg against Rs 160-170 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 250 per kg against Rs 270 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 160 per kg, while normal quality was available at Rs 130 per kg, good quality grams were available at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) was being sold at Rs 120 per kg.
Sugar price remained stable at Rs 2,750 per 50 kg bag which in retail market was being sold at Rs 62 per kg. Powdered milk (Everyday and Nido) was available at Rs 825 per kg pack. A packet of packed spices National and Shan was available at Rs 65 per pack. No change was observed in rice and tea prices.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also remained stable as normal quality ghee/cooking oil prices was being sold at Rs 140 per 900 grams pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 990 per 5 litres tin.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 475 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, yam (arvi) price went down from Rs 230 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, local carrot price went down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
Bean price went down from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 100-110 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, okra price went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70-80 per kg, and tori price went down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
Local tinda price went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 100 per kg. Cauliflower price went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 75 per kg and cabbage price went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
Peas price went down from Rs 1,400 per 5kg to Rs 1,100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 250 per kg against Rs 300 per kg. Karela price went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 270 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 100 per kg.
Fruit prices witnessed a decline as Gaja apple was available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kolo apple at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, golden apple at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, and Ambri apple was available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg.
Local good quality banana was being sold at Rs 70 per dozen while normal quality banana was available in the range of Rs 50-55 per dozen. Guava price remained stable as good quality guava was being sold at Rs 80 per kg and normal quality was available in the range of Rs 50-55 per kg.
Various qualities of grapes were being sold in the range of Rs 120-200 per kg. Sweet orange was available at Rs 120 per dozen, new arrival orange at Rs 90 per dozen, Japani fruit at Rs 70-80 per kg, Chinese pear at Rs 140-180 per kg, Pakistani pear at Rs 80 per kg, and Kandhari pomegranate was being sold in the range of Rs 120-150 per kg against Rs 200 per kg.
