Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked the government to ensure job security of media workers, address threats to their lives and solve other problems being faced by the journalists.
Bilawal said this while visiting a 'protest camp' of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) set up here on Wednesday. The PFUJ staged a sit-in in front of the Parliament House in protest against the sacking of media workers and recent killing of journalists.
On the occasion, PPP senior leader Khurasheed Ahmad Shah and others also expressed solidarity with media workers who have been sacked by various media outlets.
Bilawal assured the journalist community of the party's support in their struggle against censorship, insecurity and sacking. He said that the party will raise the issue on all the forums including the Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman PPP said that the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had claimed in his party manifesto that he would create 10 million new jobs after coming into power but all that now one can see is that people are losing their jobs. While criticising Finance Minister Asad Umar, Bilawal said that on the floor of the house the minister in his speech on a number of times promised to take the suggestions of the opposition parties in resolving the multiple issues facing the country but after his speech, he (finance minister) was always looking to leave the meeting in a hurry.
