The Lahore High Court on Thursday granted protective bail to opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif till October 13 to avoid his arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in different investigations including the Punjab Saaf Pani Company (PSPC) case. The petitioner Hamza through his counsel pleaded that he had been cooperating with the NAB and had produced everything required by the Agency.
He said the NAB had initiated three different investigations against Hamza Shehbaz including the PSPC case which did not fall under its jurisdiction. The court observed that the information should be shared with the NAB if required. His counsel implored that his client is required to appear before the NAB on Friday (today) for investigations but they feared of being arrested by the NAB. He said NAB had done this with opposition leader in National Assembly Mian Shehbaz Sharif.
He contended that Hamza apprehended that the NAB would also arrest him on his appearance before the investigation team and asked the court to grant him protective bail and restrain the NAB from arresting him. The court after hearing arguments passed the orders accordingly.
