The Karachi Port handled 81,965 tonnes of cargo comprising 51,251 tonnes of import cargo and 30,714 tonnes of export cargo including 3,823 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 51,251 tonnes comprised of 6,945 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,526 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,280 tonnes of soyabean meal and 38,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 30,714 tonnes comprised of 13,314 tonnes of containerised cargo and 17,400 tonnes of clinker. As many as 3,823 containers comprising of 1,873 containers import and 1,950 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 977 of 20's and 770 of 40's loaded while 23 of 20's and 41 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,015 of 20's and 964 of 40's loaded containers while 418 of 20's and 637 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Xin Yan Tai, Bomar Hermes, Piraeus and Lian Shan Hu carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. APL Le Havre, MT Karachi, Navis-8 Aragonite, Liberty Pride and Karimu carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 106,086 tonnes includes 10,573 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,499 tonnes of palm oil; 1,000 tonnes of bitumen; 1,743 tonnes of coal; 7,951 tonnes of chemical; 2,760 tonnes of palm kernel; 501 tonnes of general cargo and 79,059 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 55,461 tonnes includes 55,461 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 7,080 containers comprising of 4,161 containers import and 2,919 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV MOL Globe, MV Al-Jaber-X, MV Argent Gerbera, MT Ardmore Venture and MT NCC Danah carrying containers, bitumens, phosphors acid, diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV APL Antwerp, MV Marlin Apatite, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Seacon-7, MT Tessala, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Ellie Lady and MT NCC Abha carrying containers, condensate, bitumen, steel coil, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV APL Antwerp, CV Hansa America, MV Marlin Apatite, MV Seacon-7, MT Tessala and MT NCC Abha carrying containers, condensate, steel coil, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday There was one ship namely CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while two more ships namely CV Diyala and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
