After scrambling to find a replacement for actor and comedian Kevin Hart, this year’s Academy Awards ceremony will reportedly not feature a host for the first time in three decades.
Organizers are introducing new format to the world’s biggest award show where producers will select A-list celebrities to present and introduce segments instead of having one person host the entire night, sources tell Variety.
The last time the evening had no host was during the 61st Academy Awards in March 1989.
Comedian Kevin Hart was originally named as Oscars host last year, but he stepped down after a series of past homophobic tweets were brought up. The Academy reportedly offered Hart an ultimatum, apologize or step down, and the actor chose the latter.
The biggest award night will take place on February 24.
