Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chief Executive Mujahid Pervaiz Chatta has dispelled the impression of any pressure in transfer of company officials. "No negative tactic has been used and I would not let it happen ever," he added. It may be noted that media reports had suggested that transfer of those field staff is underway who had detected electricity theft. It has been reported that influential mafia has become active against the field staff of LESCO, compelling the authority to transfer them from their regions.
Sources claimed that corrupt mafia, both within and outside the company, has joined hands against the PTI government's campaign against power theft and over billing. They said the field staff had detected power theft on the part of some politicians as well. They have become active against this campaign and forcing the authority to transfer those who have detected defective meters at their premises, the sources added.
The LSECO chief said the transfer policy of the company is based upon merit, performance and sufficient experience. He said he has always preferred right man at the right job as chief executive and has never succumbed to pressure.
