Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 141,777 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,570 tonnes of import cargo and 39,207 tonnes of export cargo including 7,580 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 102,570 tonnes comprised of 60,464 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,126 tonnes of DAP; 4,580 tonnes of soyabean meal and 21,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 39,207 tonnes comprised of 36,732 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,475 tonnes of clinkers. As many as 7,580 containers comprising of 4,139 containers import and 3,441 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,510 of 20's and 1,092 of 40's loaded while 307 of 20's and 69 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 841 of 20's and 700 of 40's loaded containers while 322 of 20's and 439 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Bomar Hermes, KMTC Mumbai, Sun Ploeg, MT Quetta and Worldera-2 carrying containers, oil tankers and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Maersk Salina, Wehr Schulau, Express Rome, OOCL California, Altonia and Summit Africa carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

A cargo volume of 170,447 tonnes comprising 129,179 tonnes of import cargo and 41,268 tonnes of export cargo including 3,963 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 129,179 tonnes includes 2,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,000 tonnes of palm oil; 25,000 tonnes of coal; 11,050 tonnes of soyabean; 42,100 tonnes of LNG and 34,029 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,268 tonnes includes and 41,268 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 3,963 containers comprising 1,791 containers import and 2,172 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Northern Dedication and CV APL Miami carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MV IVS Swinely Forest carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, syabean seeds, coal, LNG diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely CV MOL Courage, MV Agre Kinsale, MV Rita Ocean, MV Mimi Selmer and MT UACC Strait carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coal and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MOL Courage, CV Mearsk Bentonville, MV Mimi Selmer and MV Chemroad Sirus carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV Maersk Salina carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV Diyala and CV Nicoline Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
