Consul General of Qatar Mishal Mohammad Al-Ansari has expressed hope that number of Pakistani workforce in Qatar would increased significantly in coming years. Addressing members of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said Qatar has opened visa on arrival for Pakistani nationals and there is certainly need to enhance relations between both countries.
He said this is the right time to invest in Qatar as remarkable progress is taking place in technology, energy, agriculture, tourism, education and other key sectors, encompassing complete ownership to foreign investors. He said mega development is going on in Qatar for 2022 FIFA World Cup. He also informed that foreign investors will be exempted from custom duties.
Qatar CG shared that his country is on the move to accomplish the 2030 Vision which is aimed to further advance Qatar's economy. KATI president Muhammad Danish Khan highlighted the cordial and friendly relations between Qatar and Pakistan. Praising Qatar's remarkable development with an impressive GDP growth and an increase of trade in last two years, he emphasized that we need to find new era of economic relations between both the countries.
Danish Khan emphasized on the need of enhancing exports from Pakistan to Qatar and expressed that we look forward to improve trade and investment relations, particularly in fields like energy and food processing. KATI diplomatic affairs committee chairman Masood Naqi emphasized on the need to process and manufacture goods in Pakistan which can be exported to Qatar.
He viewed that with an agreement to supply $16 billion worth of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar to Pakistan for 20 years, trade volume between the two countries has gone up. However, the balance of payment is in favour of Qatar.
He mentioned importance of setting strong foundation of trade relations which can go a long way. It was decided that a KATI delegation would soon visit Qatar and explore business opportunities. Encouragingly, the Consul General of Qatar promised to extend all his support in making this visit of KATI delegation a reality in 2019.
KATI diplomatic affairs committee chairman Faraz-ur-Rehman, SVP Maheen Salman, vice president, former chairman/president including Ehtishamuddin, Tariq Malik and deputy head at Qatar Consulate Mubarak Saeed Al Marri were present in the meeting.
