The Karachi Port handled 125,907 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,560 tonnes of import cargo and 41,347 tonnes of export cargo including 6,646 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 84,560 tonnes comprised of 38,447 tonnes of containerised cargo; 371 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,742 tonnes of DAP and 31,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 41,347 tonnes comprised of 32,067 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,040 tonnes of clinkers; 100 tonnes of rice and 4,140 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,646 containers comprising of 3,077 containers import and 3,569 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 629 of 20's and 899 of 40's loaded while 66 of 20's and 292 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 463 of 20's and 652 of 40's loaded containers while 342 of 20's and 730 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Hyundai Long Beach, Diyala, APL Minnesota, CMA CGM Mozart, Torm Saone, Scot Bayern, Jahan Moni and Kiran America carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. APL Minnesota, Xin Fu Zhou, Cardonia, Chrisopigi Lady and Truong Minh Sea carrying containers, oil tanker and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 133,678 tonnes includes 44,356 tonnes of furnace oil; 14,000 tonnes of palm oil; 20,000 tonnes of coal; 9,800 tonnes of soyabean; 7,765 tonnes of chemical; 17,750 tonnes of LNG and 20,007 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,010 tonnes includes 15,010 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 1,843 containers comprising 1,053 containers import and 790 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Sussana carrying containers expected to sail on Tuesday morning, while four ships namely MV Galateia, MV Malmo, MT Lahore and MT NCC Najd carrying soyabean, coal, furnace oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of eight vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, syabean seeds, coal, LNG, palm kernel, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV MSC Busan, CV MSC Pina, MV Reem-2, MV Agre Kinsale, MV Rita Ocean, MV Thor Courage and MT UACC Strait carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Busan, CV MSC Pina, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Reem-2, MV Thor Courage and MT UACC Strait carrying containers, bitumen, coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Kinloss carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely CV MOL Grandeur carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely CV Teno and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
