Rs 36482.454mn taxes recovered during six months in Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh Excise Department announced on Friday that it had recovered Rs 36482.454 million taxes from July 2018 to December 2028 as compared to Rs 30003.738 million collected during same period last financial year.

This was informed by Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation  Mukesh Kumar Chawla at a meeting in his office in Karachi. Secretary Sindh Excise and Taxation Abdul Rahim Shaikh and Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh were also present.

Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh briefed the meeting that Rs 3542.790 million were recovered in the head of motor vehicle tax, Rs 28579.517 million in infrastructure cess and Rs 247.384 million in professional tax.

He further said that the department also recovered Rs 146.496 million in cotton fee, Rs 1375.132 million in property tax and Rs 32.039 million in terms of entertainment duty and other amounts in various taxes.

Chawla asked officers to work hard and bring improvement in collection of property tax. He also expressed his satisfaction at overall recovery of the taxes and asked the officers to issue computerized challans instead of manual for the property tax.
