The Met Office has asked the farmers to follow harvesting peanut crop after plucking cotton and plow the field properly. It warned that contaminated cotton receives cheap rates, saying that quality and clean production is always costlier on the market. It said: "Use proper precautions during picking of cotton," adding that "harvesting of Peanut may be completed and the fields may be well ploughed afterwards".
Farmers should schedule the irrigation plans for upcoming Rabi crops, keeping in view the existing weather conditions. "Removing weeds from the standing crops is very important as weeds utilize moisture and food which are to be utilized by the crop. As a result considerable loss in yield occurs every year," the Met said.
Weather in Punjab and Sindh are expected to remain dry until November 30, however, light to moderate rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir with snowfall on mountains. In the next 24 hours: Cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts with 'very cold' conditions in northern areas of the country. "Continental air is likely to prevail over most parts of the country during next few days," it said. Temperature dropped on Saturday to minus 5 degrees Celsius in Skardu, minus 2, each, in Hunza, Gupis and Astore.
