KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday sought a report of previous hearing from Accountability Court (AC) on a bail plea filed by former Sindh’s information secretary Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani in a corruption case.
The SHC was hearing the bail plea of former secretary in corruption of worth Rs5.76 billion in the department. However, a reference against Shalwani has already been under proceeding in the accountability court of Karachi.
Ali Wajid, counsel of the accused, told the court that after the 10th April none of the NAB’s witnesses identified his client in corruption and his client has been behind the bars for three years.
He told the court that during three years of hearings at least 10 witnesses of the NAB have recorded their statements. ’’There are 23 witnesses in the case so further three years are expected to record all witnesses,’’ he said
Wajid said that NAB had arrested Shalwani after his interim bail was rejected by SHC and this is the third time that his client filed his bail appeal.
The court, later, adjourned the hearing till the 28th January.
