The Karachi Port handled 136,579 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,866 tonnes of import cargo and 22,713 tonnes of export cargo including 6,820 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 113,866 tonnes comprised of 67,683 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,807 tonnes of DAP; 2,176 tonnes of clinkers and 28,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 22,713 tonnes comprised of 22,713 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 6,820 containers comprising of 4,661 containers import and 2,159 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,455 of 20's and 1,550 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 53 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 571 of 20's and 357 of 40's loaded containers while 348 of 20's and 263 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely OOCL Busan, MSC Monica, MS Tiger, Hyundai Vancouver, MT Karachi, STI Beryl, Palmela, Grand Dahlia and Glovis Crystal carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. CMA CGM Tosca, MSC Monica, OOCL Shanghai, KMTC Dubai, Wafrah, Glovis Crystal and Port Macau carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 78,304 tonnes includes 11,295 tonnes of diesel oil; 800 tonnes of palm oil; 41,517 tonnes of coal; 2,800 tonnes of chemical; 2,360 tonnes of palm kernel and 19,532 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,034 tonnes includes; 16,499 tonnes of cement and 14,535 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 1,728 containers comprising 417 containers import and 1,311 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Maeva carrying containers expected to sail on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely MV JS Green Speed carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, chemical, palm kernel and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV ER Tokyo, MV Agre Kinsale, MV Rita Ocean, MV Rainbow IVY, MV Blue Akihabara, MV Trans Ocean and MT Glorious carrying containers, soyabean seeds, palm kernel, coal and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV ER Tokyo, MV Blue Akihabara and MV Trans Ocean carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Seletar carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
