The ministry of federal education and professional training has completed the process of establishing a research university at the Prime Minister House. The proposed name of the university is Islamabad National University. Sources in federal education ministry told Business Recorder that the university will be established on 30 acres of land. It will facilitate research in different subjects and provide technical support to different departments in conducting research.
The sources said that 30 acres of land will be acquired by demolishing a polo ground and a recreational mountain. Initially a research institute will be established before giving it a status of university, they added.
The sources further disclosed that entrance and exit of the university will be from fourth avenue near the shrine of Bari Imam. The newly established research institute will be of international level.
While talking to Business Recorder, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Tariq Banuri said that the proposed name of the university will be Islamabad National University. He said in the first phase a research institute will be established while in the second phase classes for M.Phil and PhD students will be started, adding that there will be no undergraduate classes in the proposed university.

The inaugural ceremony of this university is expected to be held in December. He further suggested that the government should also arrange resources for the new projects.
