Cabinet meets today

The federal cabinet, which is scheduled to meet on Thursday (today) with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, will consider Gilgit-Baltistan Reforms Package. This proposal has been submitted by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan Division. The proposal was also on the agenda of the cabinet meeting held last week but could not be decided. The leadership of AJ&K has opposed such action, saying that Gilgit-Baltistan is part of the AJ&K and cannot be given the status of a province provisionally.
The Cabinet Division will give a presentation on implementation status of the cabinet decisions as well as secrecy of cabinet documents. The cabinet will ratify the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on November 30, 2018 and Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) in its meetings held on November 13 and November 26, 2018.
Other proposals to be considered by the cabinet are as follows ;(i) transfer of functions from Economic Affairs Division to respective line divisions;(ii) transfer of Federal Land Commission from Information & Broadcasting Division; (iii) ex-post facto approval for a period of 210 days with effect from March 1, 2018 to September 26, 2018 and a formal approval for 155 days with effect from September 26, 2018 to February 28, 2019 for renewal of the Charter Licences Class-II (Domestic and International) of Air Eagle (Private) Limited - Aviation Division; (iv) extension in deputation period of Dr Rashid Hameed, Deputy Secretary (BS-19), National Language Promotion Department, as Director General (BS-20), Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad; (v) nomination of treasurer on governing body of Iqbal Academy Pakistan, Lahore;(vi) approval for signing the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for the development of mechanism to combat drug related crimes between the Anti-Narcotics Force of Pakistan and Canadian Mounted Police; (vii) appointment of members of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan other than ex-officio members; (viii) appointment of the Protector of emigrants in the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment; (ix) cabinet's approval for signing of MoU on bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and Zimbabwe; (x) issuance of Rs 50 commemorative coin on the eve of International Anti-Corruption Day; (xi) federal government's determination of undeserved under Rule 2(XXIV) of USF Rules 2006 needed for the launch of next generation broadband services in under-served areas of Pakistan; (xii) reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Karachi for the term 2018-2020 and; (xiii) additional charge for the post of chairman Port Qasim Authority, Karachi.
