The Karachi Port handled 172,114 tonnes of cargo comprising 127,984 tonnes of import cargo and 44,130 tonnes of export cargo including 9,475 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 127,984 tonnes comprised of 60,457 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,078 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,992 tonnes of canola; 7,172 tonnes of DAP; 5,656 tonnes of urea and 41,629 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 44,130 tonnes comprised of 43,770 tonnes of containerised cargo and 360 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 9,475 containers comprising of 3,591 containers import and 5,884 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,651 of 20's and 903 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,222 of 20's and 602 of 40's loaded containers while 466 of 20's and 1,496 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely WEHR Schulau, ER Tianping, CMA CGM Mumbai, Ever Union and Theodosia carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. MOL Globe, CMA CGM Mumbai, Kota Pemimpin and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 152,483 tonnes comprising 131,583 tonnes of import cargo and 20,900 tonnes of export cargo including 3,150 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 131,583 tonnes includes 11,158 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil; 59,550 tonnes of coal; 10,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,134 tonnes of palm kernel; 791 tonnes of bitumen and 38,950 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,900 tonnes includes 20,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 3,150 containers comprising 2,050 containers import and 1,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely MV Gao Yu-2 and MV Mila carrying bitumen and coal respectively expected to sail on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV CMA CGM Al-Maviva, MV Rainbow IVY and MV Anita carrying containers, palm kernel and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, condensate, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, bitumen, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV ER Tianping, MV Abn Ruby, MV BBC Maryland, MV Rita Ocean, MV Puppis Ocean, MV Vita Harmony, MT Wis Bay Atlantic, MT Mega-1, MT Able Sailor, MT Argent Aster and MT Sky Ploeg carrying containers, bitumen, general cargo, soyabean seeds, coal and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV ER Tianping, MV BBC Maryland and MV Ginga Marlin carrying containers, general cargo and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely CV MS Tiger and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
