The Karachi Port handled 113,946 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,319 tonnes of import cargo and 15,627 tonnes of export cargo including 6,825 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 98,319 tonnes comprised of 50,393 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,924 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,521 tonnes of canola; 7,521 tonnes of fertilizer; 6,085 tonnes of urea and 24,875 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 15,627 tonnes comprised of 15,041 tonnes of containerised cargo and 486 tonnes of bulk cargo and 100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,825 containers comprising of 4,248 containers import and 2,577 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,119 of 20's and 1,122 of 40's loaded while 207 of 20's and 339 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 328 of 20's and 257 40's loaded containers while 257 20's and 739 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Hyundai Oakland, Wan Hai-508, MS Tiger, MT Karachi, CT Confidence, Stolt Ebony and Leopold Staff carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Hungary, Bomar Hermes, APL England and Stolt Ebony carrying containers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 125,398 tonnes comprising 106,398 tonnes of import cargo and 19,000 tonnes of export cargo including 2,490 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 106,398 tonnes includes 8,850 tonnes of LNG; 6,859 tonnes of LPG; 9,400 tonnes of palm oil; 16,500 tonnes of coal; 31,000 tonnes of pet cock; 4,835 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 644 tonnes of bitumen and 28,310 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,000 tonnes includes and 19,000 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 2,490 containers comprising 1,490 containers import and 1,000 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely MT Al-Khattiya carrying LNG expected to sail on Tuesday morning, while six more ships namely CV MSC Beijing, MV Zhong Yu-89, MV Vita Harmony, MT Caspian Gas, MT White Purl and MT Argent Aster carrying containers, pet cock, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, pet cock, coal, soyabean seeds, bitumen, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MV Abn Ruby, MV Jasco Fuz Hou, MV Rita Ocean, MV Puppis Ocean, MV Furness St Kilda, MT Glorious, MT Wis Bay Atlantic, MT Mega-1 and MT Songa Opal carrying bitumen, steel coils, soyabean seeds, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Maersk Pittsburg, MV Jasco Fuz Hou, MV Furness St Kilda, MV Al Mahboobah and MV YM Saturn carrying containers, coal, soyabean seeds and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Al Mahboobah and MV YM Saturn carrying containers and chemical due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV MOL Gateway carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
