The Karachi Port handled 127,886 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,714 tonnes of import cargo and 36,172 tonnes of export cargo including 7,003 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 91,714 tonnes comprised of 45,228 tonnes of containerised cargo; 823 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,804 tonnes of canola; 7,323 tonnes of fertilizer; 3,426 tonnes of urea and 27,110 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 36,172 tonnes comprised of 35,197 tonnes of containerised cargo and 975 tonnes of bulk cargo As many as 7,003 containers comprising of 3,071 containers import and 3,932 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,302 of 20's and 860 of 40's loaded while 39 of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 800 of 20's and 794 40's loaded containers while 404 20's and 570 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Hungary, Bomar Hermes and Asia Ruby-III carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. OOCL Chicago, Piraeus, MT Lahore, Dream Beauty and Han De carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 127,401 tonnes includes 13,200 tonnes of palm oil; 2,808 tonnes of LPG; 20,879 tonnes of steel coil; 8,136 tonnes of coal; 4,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 5,450 tonnes of chemical and 72,428 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,936 tonnes includes 17,936 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 4,756 containers comprising 3,812 containers import and 944 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MT Al-Khattiya carrying LNG expected to sail on Tuesday morning, while six more ships namely CV MSC Beijing, MV Zhong Yu-89, MV Vita Harmony, MT Caspian Gas, MT White Purl and MT Argent Aster carrying containers, pet cock, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, steel coil, LPG and palm oil respectivvely during the last 24 hours As many as nine ships namely MV Abn Ruby, MV Athos, MV Rita Ocean, MV Puppis Ocean, MT Glorious, MT Wis Bay Atlantic, MT Mega-1, MT Gulf Baynunah and MT Songa Opal carrying bitumen, project cargo, soyabean seeds, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV MOL Gateway, MV Athos, MV Star Fighter, MV Penang, MT Glorious and MT Wis Bay Atlantic carrying containers, project cargo, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ship namely CV MOL Gateway carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV Tempanos carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
