Prime Minister's Advisor on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Production, Abdul Razzak Dawood seems to have caused a considerable controversy by stating that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have no worth. He seems to have substantiated his claim by arguing that in the past, thousands of MoUs were signed but were not implemented.
According to a Business Recorder news item, the issue of MoUs reportedly came under discussion in a Senate committee when Secretary Commerce, Younus Dagha informed the committee that about 30 MoUs were signed during the recent foreign visits of Prime Minister, Imran Khan. That Razzak Dawood has deep insights into country's trade and industry is a fact. He appears to be the only person in 'Kaptan's' economic team having strong appreciation of country's economy; he appears to be armed by a game-plan to boost country's exports. Finance Minister Asad Umar is therefore required to make optimal use of Dawood's experience and expertise without any further loss of time.
