Anti-encroachment department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) removed the extended floors and other encroachments in front of shops in the district South's Khori Garden area, here on Monday.
As many as 12 shops and floors made illegally near Munawar Hospital Block H of North Nazimabad were demolished by the anti-encroachment staff, in district Central. Hotels and shops built on footpaths around Munawar Chowrangi in the district East's Gulistan-e-Johar area were also removed.
Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman who monitors the campaign said that action against encroachment continued unabated in different districts of Karachi. He said the concerned department is removing the encroachments from footpaths. Dr Rehman warned that footpaths, drains and parks, etc, must not be encroached otherwise all sorts of structures on the encroached land would be removed and squatters too would have to face legal action.
