Former minister and Pakistan Muslim league (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif has dismissed reports that he has fled the country, saying he is visiting his daughters in the US and will return soon. Talking to a private TV channel Khawaja Asif revealed the purpose of his trip to the US was to meet his daughters and not to escape the country. "I am in US at the moment visiting my daughters and will repatriate soon" he said.
The former minister had joined his family who had already proceeded to the US earlier. He had stayed in Pakistan on request of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Soon after his departure, reports suggested that the reason behind his departure was to escape a probable arrest by the NAB. Asif is under investigation for money laundering and Nandipur power project corruption case.
