Drive to curb sale of fake, substandard drugs launched

The district administration has launched action to curb sale of fake and substandard medicines in Bajaur tribal district. An official of the administration told reporters on Saturday that the action has been launched following public complaints about growing business of fake and substandard medicines in the district.
The action has been started in the light of complaints received from the people of different areas regarding increasing business of fake and poor quality of medicines in the region," the official said, adding that as per the move approved in a meeting of senior officials held the deputy commissioner Usman Mehsood in the chair, the action would continue until the region wasn't get rid the trade of bogus and substandard medicines forever.
He said that a five members monitoring committee comprising officials of the administration, Levies force and health department was also formed to conduct the action properly.
The official informed that action was initially launched in Khar tehsil which would be extended to the entire district very soon.
The member of monitoring team, the official said have so for been visited several medicines stores in Khar bazaar and hospital markets where they have recovered huge quantity of fake, substandard and expired medicines from scores of medicines stores.
